Anniversary Luncheon on Thursday, May 16, 11:30 am-2 pm. Community members are welcome to this fundraiser celebrating the 140th anniversary of the LLA building. LLA member Sharon Carlson, History Librarian (University, Local, Regional), Professor of University Libraries, and Director of the Archives and Regional History Collections at Western Michigan University’s Zhang Legacy Center, will present a brief history of the LLA. Luncheon will be catered by the Millennium Group. Reservation required by May 8. Cost $35. Walk-ins cannot be accommodated at this catered event. Anniversary Open House on Thursday, May 16, 4-6 pm. Free and open to the community. No reservation required. Enjoy tours of the LLA building and light refreshments. See finalist designs for the new stained-glass window to be installed on the LLA building’s second floor. This new window will honor the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment to the U.S. Constitution extending the right of suffrage to all women. Passed by Congress on June 4, 1919, and ratified on August 18, 1920.
