Monday, June 12, 12 pm – Luncheon. Kalamazoo in Bloom beautifies public spaces in Kalamazoo and Portage with locally grown plants and flowers with the help of hundreds of volunteers. While planting takes place in May, CJ Drenth, Gardener Educator for Kalamazoo in Bloom, will tell us all about the organization in June.
Menu – Lunch will be partially catered by Great Meal Catering. Includes choice of either pulled pork barbecue (with a slider bun on the side) or walleye filet, baked in garlic butter. Both entrees include sides of pineapple coleslaw, macaroni & cheese, and a cupcake for dessert, coffee or tea.

Kalamazoo’s Automotive Heritage. Most people associate the Checker cab with Kalamazoo’s automotive heritage but there were other vehicles manufactured in our community, too. Tom Dietz will describe Kalamazoo’s automotive history as it evolved from the earlier buggy industry. A well-known historian and speaker, Tom was the local history curator at Kalamazoo Valley Museum, a post he held for 22 years before his retirement.
Monday, August 14, 12 noon – Luncheon. The Big Reveal! The Marketing & Outreach Committee will introduce a new logo and marketing materials for the Ladies’ Library Association. Special guests at the luncheon will include designers from LKF Marketing and Robin Reva, the artist who painted the watercolor of the LLA building that hangs in the main meeting room.
The luncheon will feature Italian chicken pasta salad on a bed of lettuce with homemade parmesan rolls. The vegetarian option is Italian pasta salad with veggies. If you would like the vegetarian option, please specify this when you RSVP. Dessert will be and homemade chocolate chip cookies. Served with tea, coffee and water.
