The Association of Lincoln Presenters—an organization devoted to depicting and researching the life of Abraham Lincoln—is holding its annual conference in Kalamazoo April 24-27. On Saturday morning, April 26, the LLA will host three lectures that will be open to LLA members.
- 9 am, Linda Hass, “The Role of Jackson, Michigan, in the Founding of the Republican Party.”
- 10 am, Sharon Carlson, “Ladies’ Library Association of Kalamazoo and Kalamazoo Ladies Soldiers Aid Society and their Sanitary Fair.”
- 11 am, Gary Gibson, “Kalamazoo County and the Civil War – How One Michigan County Supported, and Didn’t Support, the War Effort.”
All three lectures will be offered in the LLA auditorium, with a short break between each. Sharon suggests coming about 10-15 minutes before the lecture(s) you want to attend to allow time to find a seat during the break.
Also during the morning, author Tony Ettwein will introduce his new Lincoln book, Texting Lincoln: A semi-true tale of an Illinois prairie lawyer’s return to Kalamazoo. Also see Tony Ettwein's LinkedIn post.
