The LLA is proud to be an active part of the Kalamazoo community, whether we’re cheering on our spelling bee team or throwing open our doors to local artists and art lovers alike.
Each year, the LLA fields a team for the Great Grown-Up Spelling Bee, a lively fundraiser benefiting the Kalamazoo Public Library’s Ready to Read program, which purchases gift books for children across Kalamazoo County. The event is held at the Fetzer Center at Western Michigan University, and we’re happy to say our team has taken home the Audience Favorite prize more than once!
The LLA also participates in Kalamazoo’s beloved Art Hop, opening our historic building as a showcase for local artists working in everything from jewelry and photography to painting and woodworking. Art Hop is free and open to the public, taking place on the first Friday of select months throughout the year. It’s a perfect chance to explore the LLA and experience the creativity of our local arts community.
