Thompson Tutoring School of Music Recital

Talk by D Marie Jones, the Gilmore Festival’s Steinway technician. Many people assume the Gilmore’s Steinways are all identical, but that isn’t the case. She will share how each instrument is chosen and prepared for every performance, taking into account the pianist, the music, the venue, and many other nuanced factors.

A book discussion facilitated by Cara Lieurance and Judy Sarkozy. The chosen book is "Moscow Nights: The Van Cliburn Story - How One Man and His Piano Transformed the Cold War."

Renowned classical pianist Sara Davis Buechner will give an intimate one-hour performance and talk describing her experience as a transgender woman and artist. This special event will also feature information about community resources for LGBTQ+ individuals.
